Chapter 8 & 9 Objectives

  • to write equations describing chemical reactions using appropriate symbols
  • to write balanced chemical equations when given the names or formulas of the reactants and products in tha chemical reaction
  • to identify a reaction as a synthesis, decomposition, combustion, single displacement, double displacement, or combination
  • to predict the products of synthesis, decomposition, combustion, single displacement, double displacement, or combination reactions
  • to calcualate the amount of reactants required or product formed in a chemical process
  • to interpret balanced chemical equations in terms of interacting moles, representative particles, masses
  • to construct mole ratios from balanced chemical equations and apply these ratios in mole~mole stoichiometric calculations
  • to calculate theoretical and actual yield
